Assateague National Park

On Sunday morning of Labor Day we left the house early (ok late for us, but early for all the other beach goers) and we headed toward Assateague Island, MD.  It is a National Park that has approximately 100+ wild horses that were said to have originated on the Island when settlers brought them over in the 1700's.  The wild horses look more like ponies now as the food options (lots of salty grass) has stunted their growth over time.  But it was really fun seeing a group of wild horses running down the beach.  We saw probably 25 in all.  Plus got some great bird viewing and crab watching in as well.  Definitely a neat place to visit.
