Catching up

Summer really seems to get away from me some times, especially this time of year.  We've been having a great time exploring around DC and hitting the beach every couple weekends as well.  Lily seems to be growing up before our eyes.  This week she said "Mommy, I want to be a teacher when I grow up." We are getting ready for grandparents to visit and for Lily's third birthday coming soon.  O.K. next weekend, but who is counting.  Some pictures to share of our last several weeks together.

Lily at Gymnastics class.  She has since switched to dance class which is a little tap dance, a little balllet and a little gymnastics too.  Wait until you see the pictures of her in a dance outfit.  Too fun.

At Great Falls National Park.  She took a pretty hard crash and ended up with bloody knees and elbows but still had a nice walk and view of the falls.

Lily celebrating her friend Lluc's birthday party.  I think they both had chocolate mousee overload that night.

Enjoying a walk along the beach at Cape Henlopen State Park in Delaware.  Please forgive the bed head (it was early and before showers)

Lily Loves Hats

No huge surprise, but after putting hats on her all summer long, she is actually fond of wearing them now.  She even wears them around the house.

This one was a gift from her Great Aunt Betty (can't wait to wear it this winter)

Not sure what she was thinking her (birthday hat, sunglasses & winter scarf)... definitely looks like she is in need of a celebration

Assateague National Park

On Sunday morning of Labor Day we left the house early (ok late for us, but early for all the other beach goers) and we headed toward Assateague Island, MD.  It is a National Park that has approximately 100+ wild horses that were said to have originated on the Island when settlers brought them over in the 1700's.  The wild horses look more like ponies now as the food options (lots of salty grass) has stunted their growth over time.  But it was really fun seeing a group of wild horses running down the beach.  We saw probably 25 in all.  Plus got some great bird viewing and crab watching in as well.  Definitely a neat place to visit.

Labor Day at the Beach House

Labor day weekend at the beach house was loads of fun.  We had three friends come along.  Yes Lily called them her "brothers" all weekend as usual despite the fact that they were men & women, but they loved her none the less.  The weather was mostly sunny, definitely warm and a few rain clouds but nothing that affected the weekend festivities.  The community hosted a carnival for the kids.  And we got a fireworks show right from our deck.

Trying out the big blow up slide at the carnival
 She was a little concerned
But she made it!  And then went another 100 times...
And she enjoyed some snow cones in between

Dad helping her put on her "giggle" goggles

Yes they are a little giggly when on her face

She is becoming a very brave swimmer (in over her head without her life vest)
