Columbus Day Weekend

After having Lily's birthday party on Friday night, we were lucky enough to have our friends from Delaware (Dave, Theresa and Madeline) join us for a weekend of fun in D.C.  We love being tourists and showing people around our great city.  On Saturday, we got to enjoy a metro ride into town (highlight for the kids), touring three Smithsonians, swimming upstream in the million man march, fantastic lunch at Oyamel and then a nice evening at home.  On Sunday we were back up early for a trip to the National Zoo then it was off to Tysons Corner to enjoy lunch and dessert at the American Girl Cafe.  Madeline and Lily were in absolute pink girl heaven.  Then we got back home in time to get all our fall decorations up (thanks to the little ones helping).  It really was a fantastic weekend.

Lily's 6th Birthday Party

I can't believe she is already six years old.  Time flies when you are having fun I suppose.  I sometimes wish she would just stop growing and stay right at this age.  She had turned into an amazing girl and is so fun to be around.  We celebrated her sixth birthday this weekend.  She had about 15 friends and all their parents join in.  It was a great night filled with lots of food and minions.  I must admit the popcorn at a six year old party was the worst mistake I ever made.  Thank goodness for the Dyson (vacuum).

Dry Tortugas

During our trip to Key West, at the advice of another friend, we took a day trip out 70 miles to the Dry Tortugas National Park to visit Fort Jefferson and do some amazing snorkeling.  The sights were truly amazing as you can see from the pictures.  A definite must do if you ever make it to the Keys.  And so amazing that this is all in the U.S.

Key West

In mid September, Chris and I took our first trip without Lily since she was born.  We joined some great friends in Key West, FL to celebrate a 50th birthday party and we really had an excellent time.  We started by flying into Miami, stopping in little Havana for the best Cuban sandwich ever, then drove the 2.5 hour drive down to Key West to the very end of Duval street where we arrived at our amazing hotel.  The sunsets were amazing.  The drag show fun.  The roosters completely annoying at 4am.  And the bike week festivities interesting to say the least.  Definitely a once in a lifetime trip.
