Fantastic weekend with friends in Virginia

This last weekend we were fortunate to spend the weekend in Virginia with our beach friends at one of their normal homes.  Karen, John and Katie hosted us all weekend and boy did we ever have fun.  We were also joined by Sam, Chloe, Don and Holly too.  One big party.

Lily and Katie hit a sock hop dance at Katie's school on Friday night.  Then we had pizza and cheese tray for dinner.  On Saturday we went to Trump National for lunch and boy was that an experience.  Saturday afternoon we headed to the Air & Space Museum at Dulles airport and boy, did it knock my socks off.  Completely amazing and one of the last few Smithsonian Museums I hadn't seen.  Then there was a bonfire for hot dog grilling and smore making for dinner.  Followed by movies in their in house cinema (yes this house was over the top huge and awesome).  It was so fun spending the weekend with such great friends.

The next Kids Baking Champion

Lily and I love watching Kids Baking Championship each season on TV.  And each episodes seems to inspire some new creativity in Lily.  Here is a bundt cake covered in fresh strawberry puree from the next Kids Baking Champion!

What goes up, must go down... unfortunately - Lily's first bike fall

Unfortunately upon returning to Delaware, Lily suffered a pretty good fall on her bike while she was out biking with all her friends.  Unfortunately she had a mild concussion, but luckily no stitches.  It was close, but she escaped any needles.  We've had to watch her for several days now but hopefully she is on the mend and will heal fast.

Wrapping up Spring Break - with more fun in the sun!

Of course no Spring Break is complete for us without some time at the beach in the sun.  A little time in the pool.  Some fun parks at Isle of Palms.  Some amazing house viewing on Sullivan's Island and finally a quick stop in Myrtle Beach on our way home.

Spring Break - Charleston

Wow!  The Food!  And More Food! And More Amazing Food!  We had a truly wonderful experience trying all kinds of restaurants in Charleston, hitting an amazing sushi restaurant in Mt. Pleasant and wrapping up the week with a food tour in the Charleston historic quarter that included 10 courses across four restaurants.  And we finally got into the amazing restaurant Husk (albeeit, we could only get lunch reservations).  It was well worth the wait.  Oh, and there was some super great shopping on King Street mixed in there.

Spring Break - up next - Folly Beach

Our next stop included five nights in the Charleston area where we had a great house exchange complete with pool and four bedrooms to spread out.  Plus we were super close to downtown Charleston and Folly Beach.  So of course, we hit the beach first!

Spring Break - Easter Day in Hilton Head

To celebrate Easter we decided to head to Hilton Head, SC.  We enjoyed some beautiful sunny weather while we were searching for shells on the beach and had a great Easter Brunch.

Spring Break - stop 2 - Savannah, GA

The second stop on our Southern Coastal tour for Spring Break included a stop in Savannah, GA for a couple days.  We looked for houses on Tybee Island.  We hit all the historic sites and loved checking out downtown.  Lily even rode her bike in the hotel parking lot.  But the very best part of our trip was an excellent tour of the founding location of the Girl Scouts.  Which is owned now by every single girls scout in the country.

And we are off on Spring Break - first stop Wrightsville Beach

We took off Thursday, 3/29, on Spring Break.  First stop was Wrightsville Beach.  Weather was to cold for the pool, but we still had a great stop.

Lily's First Bike Ride

It took us eight years to convince her that she would be great at bike riding, but she was waiting for the right moment that came when we had 3 boys staying at our house.  When I asked her why she finally decided to do it, she said "I didn't want to be left out".  And I must say these boys were more encouraging than any parents ever could have been.  One was off and leading the pack, the other was riding at her speed, while the sweetest one was cheering her on the entire time and telling her she could do it.

We were lucky to have our friends the Pipia's come visit us before we headed out for Spring Break.  It was a fun couple days filled with lots of catching up, bike riding, wine and some Pokemon card trading.
